Locally Global

I understand there are many countries in the world that are in need of help and there are many countries that are doing everything they possibly can to support and create better change. This is something I am a huge supporter of, locally and globally. But what happened to supporting and helping locally? Isn't it just as important to help the people on the streets in our local countries? What about all the children that go to school hungry in our countries too? Or funding families that can't even afford education for their children?
Better yet, the over-consumption and consumerism? Don't these two areas have an impact on the other countries? HECK YES! We out source, harvest 'super food' from areas where that particular food is their stable. We go in and take away their land. We deforest areas that shouldn't be touched to get that perfect exotic location. We disrupt their economy leaving them more poor. Years later, we realize the impact and have to go back in to fix all of our mistakes?.... Why can't we teach and empower every individual in each country how to thrive in that geographic area. Spreading out the wealth and give everyone a chance to thrive as a being. Why can't we stop the over-consumption and gift nourishing food to each area. Instead of buying a fancy water filter for ourselves we could gift that money to water treatment businesses. Gifting a person, family, even community of clean water. This can all be done locally and globally. We, as one, can change the world together.
Often countries are appraised of all their overseas work in the media, but what about the people that suffer just as much in their own country.

If you all support locally and raise awareness, wouldn't the suffering all over the world decrease as a whole? I believe it would be a cascade effect.
In the end with a whole world, a whole universe, will less suffering.
